Il recente fenomeno della creatività urbana pervade nelle sue diverse forme le nostre città, sollevando problemi di compatibilità con il patrimonio storico, ma anche con quello moderno. Per definire se e in quale misura graffiti, opere di street art e di nuovo muralismo impattino sulla lettura dei caratteri di architetture e contesti urbani o, viceversa, possano arricchirli di ulteriori significati, l’articolo analizza criticamente un repertorio di casi, documentando la varietà delle questioni sollevate da tale controverso dialogo.

The recent phenomenon of urban creativity pervades our cities in its various forms, raising issues of compatibility with the historical Heritage, but also with the modern one. The article critically analyzes a series of cases. In particular, it aims to determine whether and to what extent graffiti, street art and new muralism have a negative impact on the character of architecture and urban contexts, or, on the contrary, can enrich them with additional meanings. In this way it documents the variety of issues raised by this controversial dialogue.

L’analisi di Serra Venerdì, progettato da Luigi Piccinato nella nuova Matera per lo sfollamento dei Sassi, nel confronto tra assetto originario e condizione attuale incrociando documenti e materiali storici di diversa natura con l’analisi diretta dei luoghi, legge i caratteri identificativi del progetto e le profonde alterazioni intercorse, conducendo ad una riflessione critica su possibilità e modi per la tutela che investe la questione della conservazione dei quartieri popolari d’autore del XX secolo.

The analysis of Serra Venerdì, designed by Luigi Piccinato in the new Matera for the evacuation of the Sassi, in the comparison between original layout and current condition by cross-referencing documents and historical materials of different kinds with the direct analysis, reads the identifying features of the project and the profound alterations that have occurred, leading to a critical reflection on the possibilities and ways of preservation that invests the question of the conservation of significative examples of public housing neighborhoods of the 20th century.
