La chiesa di San Pietro in Cryptis presso Ofena è una delle più importanti testimonianze della diffusione del monachesimo benedettino in terra aquilana. Gli affreschi che la decorano, restaurati negli anni novanta, sono stati purtroppo interessati da nuovi fenomeni di degrado a venti anni di distanza dal primo intervento. L’articolo ripercorre materiali e metodi impiegati nella nuova campagna di restauro del 2019, descrivendo anche i lavori architettonici che hanno permesso di eliminare le cause del degrado degli apparati decorativi.

The church of San Pietro in Cryptis near Ofena is one of the most important testimonies of the spread of Benedictine monasticism in L'Aquila. The frescoes that decorate it, restored in the nineties, were affected by new degradation phenomena twenty years after the intervention. The article traces the materials and methods used in the new restoration campaign in 2019, describing also the architectural works that made it possible to eliminate the causes of the decay of the decorative elements.
